Is overtime pay required?
According to the United States Department of Labor, overtime is covered in the Fair Labor Standards Act. In most cases, employees covered by the Act are entitled to overtime pay for hours worked beyond the standard 40 hour workweek. The rate of this overtime pay should be at least 1.5 times their pay rate.
Is minimum wage required?
According to the United States Department of Labor, the federal minimum wage is currently $7.25 per hour. Individual states may have minimum wage set at a higher amount, in this case, covered nonexempt employees are subject to the higher minimum wage pay.
