Important information for Volkswagen® owners: CNN Money has reported that:
Diesel cars from Volkswagen® and Audi® cheated on clean air rules by including software that made the cars’ emissions look cleaner than they actually were, according to federal and California regulators.
Volkswagen®/Audi® admitted cheating on diesel emissions tests in the United States and around the world. These manipulated reports showed many Volkswagen® vehicles having lower emissions than they actually have.
The real emission levels are higher than Environmental Protection Agency standards. 11 million cars were involved in the scandal. The world’s largest automaker may be facing criminal charges.
The vehicles affected were bought by many customers who believed they were purchasing a vehicle with “green diesel” that had less air pollution and less of a toll on the environment.
Cars that may have been affected between the years of 2009 to 2015:
- Audi A3® 2010-2015
- Volkswagen Beetle® 2012-2015
- Volkswagen Beetle® Convertible 2013-2015
- Volkswagen Golf® 2010-2015

- Volkswagen Jetta® 2009-2015
- Volkswagen Jetta® SportWagen TDI 2009-2015
- Volkswagen Passat® 2012-2015
Volkswagen® has set aside over $7 billion so far to cover the expected costs of resolving the issue. The E.P.A. has stated that under the Clean Air Act Volkswagen® could face fines of $37,500 per vehicle.
